Birmingham Cathedral at the heart of our city

An institution close to the hearts of many of us – Judy Dyke of Tyndallwoods shares her recent experience of this impressive place.

The Cathedral and gardens offered a spectacular setting for viewing the March solar eclipse at its maximum of 80%.

Then in May at Chelsea Flower Show Tyndallwoods Solicitors were proud sponsors of the Birmingham City Council’s floral celebration of 300 Years of Birmingham Cathedral, winning not only a golden medal but also The Diamond Jubilee Award.

Judy was pleased to attend the December service, celebrating the rewiring and redecoration of the Cathedral.  The fabulous new lighting not only illuminates the four Burne Jones Windows into Cathedral Square but also revealed Soul Boats, an art installation by Birmingham artist Jake Lever, a flotilla of 2000 golden boats suspended from the cathedral ceiling. Each is made by a local person and contains their hopes, lives and longings.
