Honouring Our Third Sector Leaders #LocalLeadersAwards2016

ByKate Slater August 2, 2016

Local Leaders AwardsI was pleased to welcome the Deputy Lord Mayor Shafique Shah, members and friends of the Future Leaders Club, event sponsors, nominees and guests to the Local Leader’s Awards.

The evening was dedicated to highlighting and celebrating compassionate leadership by Birmingham’s charities, not-for-profit organisations and community groups who together make Birmingham such a special place.

During the evening, the thirty eight short listed nominees were called onto the stage to receive certificates and eight Local Leaders Awards were presented with glass trophies. My son, Mike, presented an award to the incredible Tariq Jahan who created the Haroon Jahan Foundation in memory of his late son. Amy Martin of FAMALAN received the Rising Star Award and Dominic Bradley of Spring Housing Association received the Outstanding Leader Award. It was an honour to stand with such inspiring people.

Throughout the evening, money was raised for Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s Aspire@bch Programme. Over £760 was raised dedicated to helping disadvantaged young people gain work experience opportunities.

A great evening was had by all.

Thank you Jazz Singh, Chair, and Jag Kaler, CEO, of The Future Leaders Club.
