We did it!!!

ByTyndallwoods October 27, 2011

We started our journey as Team 21 in support of Edward’s Trust towards the half marathon on the 9th January with our first training session running around Edgbaston Reservoir. Since then over 70 of us have enjoyed training sessions in the Birmingham University’s running track, long runs with Sally Ellis Fitness in Sutton park and British Military Fitness in Cannon Hill park. We have listened to bereavement counsellors telling us of the special work of the Trust in 2010 attending 2743 appointments with bereaved parents or children.

The morning of the 23rd dawned bright and clear. We are so grateful to Birmingham Symphony Hall for hosting us as we gathered with family and friends. Our purpose was to raise funds for Edward’s Trust a local charity that supports children and families during serious illness and bereavement. We wore bright pink running vests featuring the charity logo adapted to become Running Kite. Edward’s father Peter Dent spoke to us about the importance of the work of the charity and how grateful he is for all support in fund-raising.

What a great day was had by all. Thank you Birmingham City Council and BUPA the route was clear and fantastically marshalled. Thank you to the spectators who cheered us on as aches came and blisters began to form. And then the wonderful welcome to Broad Street, the finishing line and our medals.

A sneak peek at our photos below. More to follow!!
