Wills & Lasting Powers of Attorney – do it yourself or seek the advice of a solicitor?

ByTyndallwoods February 1, 2013

Every adult should make a Will and every adult should have Lasting Powers of Attorney in place to choose those that they wish to help and support them if help and support is needed during their lifetime.

Death and disability are not respecters of age.  Having said that many of our clients defer the decision about LPAs until they have adult children to act as their appointed Attorneys.

Should advice be sought from a Solicitor in relation to drafting Wills and LPAs – the short answer is yes.  Almost all legal processes can be dealt with by clients acting in person.  LPAs and Wills are important though and Solicitors give that extra dimension of reassurance that you have done what you ought to do and need to do without the risk of error in the process to undermine your planning.

We discuss costs and benefits clearly with our clients so that they can make an informed decision about the level of support that they require from us, to be satisfied that it is cost effective and worthwhile support.  Our aim is to add clarity and reassurance to interpreting their wishes.

Please call me on 0121 693 2222 or email me through the Contact Us page for more information or to discuss your particular circumstances.
