World Cancer Day #adaytounite

ByJudy Dyke February 5, 2016

Today 4 Feb 2016 is World Cancer Day and we united with over 14,000 others to make a difference #adaytounite

Cancer Research UK is working in partnership with Breast Cancer Care, Anthony Nolan and the Movember Foundation and asking us to join the nation to help beat cancer sooner.

Not only do CRUK Fund scientists, doctors and nurses, they also provide cancer information to the public.

The support given to Cancer Research allowed life changing research to be developed over the last 40 years, as a result of this, survival has doubled.

Today, 2 in 4 people survive their cancer for at least 10 years. Within 20 years CRUK aim to up this to 3 in 4 people.

I am proud to be Birmingham’s Ambassador for Cancer Research and today my colleagues at Tyndallwoods purchased and wore their unity bands with pride! Many of us have been touched by Cancer at Tyndallwoods and we are honoured to offer continuing support to the Charity.

You can still purchase a Unity Band from our Offices or at shops across the UK.

The Lord Mayor joined friends of CRUK at Everyman Mailbox Cinema to watch “The Enemy Within: 50 years of fighting Cancer”. The film documents the incredible history of the battle against cancer and highlights some of the major breakthroughs in treatment.  The film follows on below this blog.
